Moving from one Android phone to a Galaxy can be easier with Smart Switch. Yet a finished progress bar does not mean every app, password and synced record is ready. When the receiving phone is used, check its account state and space first, bring over personal content second, and erase the old phone only after verification.
1. Inspect the receiving Galaxy first
For a used phone, confirm the former owner’s account is removed, activation works and free space covers the photos, videos and files you intend to move. Test SIM, calls, charging port and Wi-Fi. Transfer personal information only when you control the receiving phone’s account and screen lock.
Back up essential content on the old device first. Check where memory-card photos or in-app files actually live; do not assume Smart Switch places every file automatically in the location you expect.
2. Choose wireless, cable or computer
Samsung describes opening Smart Switch on both devices, selecting Send on the old phone and Receive on the new Galaxy. Wireless transfer is convenient when the phones are nearby and charged; a suitable cable provides a direct path. Use the right cable or adapter and leave the devices connected until completion.
Smart Switch on a computer can also create a backup and restore it later. That can be useful when you want an extra copy or cannot keep two phones side by side. Whichever method you use, review the categories selected before starting.
3. Know what may not move automatically
Samsung explains that data tied to synced accounts may reappear after signing in on the new device rather than being copied as a file. Some app-private data, rights-managed content or third-party messenger content may not transfer as expected.
Do not rely on a Smart Switch copy alone for banking apps, wallets, two-factor codes or a complete conversation history. Check each service’s own recovery instructions, keeping the SIM and old phone active until sign-in and one-time codes work.
4. Verify real content after completion
Once Smart Switch finishes, open sample old photos and videos, find contacts, calendar entries, messages and downloads. Launch essential apps, grant needed permissions and send a test message. If photo counts differ, check cloud-only images and private folders before repeating the whole transfer.
Test calls, mobile data, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the receiving Galaxy. Check free storage after the move; a phone full on day one leaves little room for updates or new photos.
5. Erase the old phone only when ready
TECHBUY lists the used Galaxy S23 and used Galaxy S22. Choose storage and condition on the individual receiving phone; do not buy on the assumption that a transfer tool solves every app difference.
Keep the old phone and a backup for a while. When content, sign-ins and authentication have been checked, sign out and erase the old device under the manufacturer’s guidance before passing it to someone else.
Conclusion
Finishing a transfer begins the verification stage; it is not yet time to erase the old phone. Sources: Samsung Smart Switch steps and transferable-content limits.
