BUYING GUIDE

How to choose compatible PC components

Begin with your current configuration or the platform you plan to build. Record the CPU socket, motherboard chipset, memory standard, case size, and available connectors to narrow down suitable parts.

When choosing a processor, motherboard, and memory, verify the socket, chipset generation, memory type, and BIOS support. Sharing the same socket does not always guarantee that a processor will work without a compatible firmware version.

For graphics cards, power supplies, and cooling, check physical length, thickness, PCIe slots, power connectors, power capacity, and available case clearance. Storage also needs the correct interface, form factor, and an available motherboard slot.

When upgrading an existing PC, identify the real bottleneck before buying. Prioritize the component that improves your everyday workload, then review warranty and return conditions in case a compatibility issue appears.
