LOQ 15ARP9 or Essential: studying away from a power socket

Two RTX 3050 6GB laptops differ in integrated graphics, GPU power and display connections. Match the machine to your study and gaming routine.

Taking a laptop to class in the morning and gaming at home in the evening is different from keeping it beside a power socket all day. Two Lenovo laptops labelled RTX 3050 6GB can suit those routines differently. This guide compares LOQ 15ARP9 83JC00LVVN with Ryzen 5 7235HS and LOQ Essential 15ARP10E 83S0000DVN with Ryzen 5 7535HS. Both TECHBUY listings have 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. Before judging the GPU badge, consider integrated graphics, power configuration and the equipment you want to connect. These are specification-based buying considerations, not measured battery or gaming results.

The important difference is outside the RTX name

AMD’s announcement New AMD Ryzen Notebook dGPU-Paired Offerings, dated 12 June 2024, states that 7235HS lacks integrated graphics and that this reduces battery life relative to its other mobile Ryzen offerings with iGPU. The LOQ 15ARP9 configuration cannot switch to an integrated Radeon that is not present. This is a hardware characteristic, not a missing driver or a defect to repair after purchase.

The Essential platform specification lists Radeon 660M for 7535HS. That is a relevant distinction for light mobile tasks, but active graphics still depend on software and machine settings. An iGPU does not guarantee the discrete GPU is always asleep. If several classes take place without accessible sockets, treat unplugged work as a requirement of its own. If most study and gaming happen at a powered desk, the 7235HS trade-off may be acceptable at the right complete price. Neither platform should be promised an all-day runtime from its processor name.

Compare the power configuration and the task

The LOQ 15ARP9 PSREF lists its RTX 3050 6GB option at 95W TGP, compared with 65W in the Essential document. That difference is a reason to test, not a mathematical FPS ratio. Confirm the exact unit and compare the same game settings, resolution and power mode with appropriate AC adapters. Cooling and application behaviour also matter.

The processors differ too: 7235HS has four cores and eight threads, while 7535HS has six cores and twelve threads. Counts alone do not establish a winner in every application. A technical student should test a representative project, including opening, interaction and output, rather than substituting a gaming video for the required software. Both GPUs have 6GB VRAM; more available GPU power does not expand that memory. Check whether large scenes and textures fit, and consider keyboard response and fan behaviour if lighter games are the main use.

Use your lesson as the unplugged test

Open your course documents, browser and note-taking application at comfortable brightness, with Wi-Fi and the power mode you intend to use. Add a sample call if online lessons are common. Record elapsed time, battery percentage and active software so comparisons have the same context. A short trial provides an initial signal, not a reliable full-day prediction obtained by multiplying its consumption rate.

Gaming on battery is a different workload and the machine may limit performance. Test home gaming on the supplied or manufacturer-approved adapter. A small USB-C charger is not automatically a substitute for the gaming adapter under heavy load. Carry the laptop, charger and mouse in your actual bag before deciding how convenient the package is. If you need many hours away from power almost every day but only occasional games, compare an integrated-graphics office laptop or a separate home gaming setup instead of assuming every mixed-use buyer needs the same gaming machine.

Display connections and upgrade parts need exact checks

The two listed configurations have 15.6-inch Full HD, 144Hz, 100% sRGB displays. Try readable text and reflections as well as moving content. Gamut coverage is not evidence that every unit is identically calibrated. There is also a connection difference: Lenovo documents external display output through HDMI and USB-C for 15ARP9, whereas the Essential specification lists its external monitor through HDMI. Its USB-C data and power description should not be taken as a DisplayPort promise.

For a one-cable dock or multiple external displays, confirm and demonstrate the required arrangement on the exact sales model before buying. An ordinary single HDMI monitor is a simpler case. Both designs have memory slots, but supported capacities and validated parts need their own checks. Essential uses M.2 2242 SSD positions, so do not order a 2280 drive by habit. Obtain a parts-and-installation quote and confirm warranty handling. The Essential keyboard photograph helps inspect the input layout; it does not identify the modules underneath the bottom cover.

Choose for the location where you use it most

Consider 15ARP9 when most use is at a powered desk and you want to evaluate its GPU configuration in the games or software you actually run. Accept the lack of iGPU explicitly, then compare the workload result with total cost. Try Essential 7535HS when light tasks while travelling matter alongside home gaming, provided its documented display connections meet your needs.

Confirm sales code 83JC00LVVN or 83S0000DVN, memory arrangement, included adapter and licensed software in the order. Ask about the service route and a compatible upgrade plan. The product cards show current laptop prices; compare quotations with the same scope of memory, storage and accessories. A cheaper machine-only quote is not directly comparable with an expanded package. The best choice fits the actual school timetable and home setup rather than winning a single line on a specification sheet.

          Conclusion

Sharing the RTX 3050 label does not erase the difference between these two Ryzen platforms. For frequent unplugged classes, test the lesson workload and check integrated graphics first. For a mostly powered setup, compare the application load and monitor arrangement. Covering both situations avoids choosing the right graphics badge for the wrong daily routine.
