A laptop opening a two-page flyer quickly tells you little about editing your regular catalogue. Images, fonts and repeated revisions turn the job into a sequence: find a page, change the text, open the original artwork, export a PDF and review the result. Before paying for a different processor or panel, bring a complete project that represents the work you intend to do. The useful comparison is the whole editing session, not a blank application window.
Test a complete project, not just the INDD file
Use an older catalogue you are permitted to share, remove confidential customer information and retain representative images and layouts. Opening a document with missing artwork may produce a lighter preview than normal. Missing fonts can also change line breaks without saying anything useful about laptop performance. Resolve these differences before comparing machines, or you may end up timing two different workloads.
Adobe describes collecting a document and associated resources in its InDesign packaging guide. Font collection depends on activation source and usage permissions, so do not assume every font can simply be copied to another computer. Agree on a usable test package with the designer beforehand. The aim is a document that opens correctly, not an artificially easy demonstration with half the original content missing.
Evaluate a working session, not one application

The Adobe InDesign technical requirements list 8GB as minimum memory, recommend 16GB and recommend an SSD. Use these figures as a starting point for the software version being evaluated. They do not establish that every 16GB machine will handle any document comfortably.
A real session may also include Photoshop, Illustrator, a browser and a conversation with the editor. Switch between them, change an image and return to the layout instead of closing everything to free more memory than you normally have. If this session repeatedly reaches a memory limit, ask about the RAM plan before paying only for a faster processor. Both reference laptops here have 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, so choosing the Zenbook does not itself purchase more capacity.
Choose between 3K and WUXGA with a readable spread

The Zenbook UX3405CA-ST630W lists an Ultra 7 255H and a 2880 × 1800 OLED screen. The Vivobook S14 SF913W lists an Ultra 5 225H and a 14-inch WUXGA screen. Open a two-page spread at readable scaling, then check the remaining room for tools. More pixels do not enlarge a 14-inch chassis. For desk-based layout work, a suitable external display may contribute more than making every label smaller on the laptop.
A powerful discrete GPU is also not a universal shortcut to faster InDesign work. Adobe explains display, zooming and page movement acceleration in its GPU Performance documentation. Availability depends on the supported configuration, including the display and application conditions. Test the actual software version. Neither an Intel Arc label nor an OLED panel, by itself, confirms the complete colour workflow required by a print provider.
Finish the test by exporting and reopening a PDF
A useful short sequence is to open the project, revise a heading, replace an image, inspect several busy pages and export using the preset normally requested for delivery. Open that PDF and inspect the first page, a middle page and the final page. Record whether the wait occurs during loading, artwork display or export. That information is more useful for the purchasing decision than saying that the whole computer feels vaguely slow.
Use InDesign Preflight to review issues under the selected checking profile, including font, link and overset-text problems. These are document checks, not hardware faults automatically repaired by a higher-tier CPU. Agree on output and colour settings with the recipient. A vivid promotional screen image is not proof that the eventual printed result will be correct. Accurate delivery comes before saving a few seconds on an incorrectly configured export.
Choose for the location and companion applications
For travelling to review content, include the 14-inch Vivobook in a representative test. For a higher-resolution OLED panel and a different processor, inspect the Zenbook using exactly the same project. Both linked listings state a 24-month official ASUS Vietnam warranty. Current prices are in the cards; Adobe software and accessories must be confirmed separately rather than assumed to be included with the laptop.
Plan storage for source artwork, customer deliveries and an independent backup. The image folders behind a catalogue can be much larger than the INDD file suggests. The 512GB or 1TB SSD guide helps estimate from real files. For a desk display, review the HDMI and USB-C connection checklist. A balanced complete workspace can be more useful than upgrading just one number on the computer.
Conclusion
A suitable InDesign laptop should make the complete revision and delivery cycle comfortable. Bring the fonts, artwork and PDF settings; include normal companion applications, readable scaling and the storage plan. Once you identify the step that interrupts the work, choosing additional memory, processor performance or a different display becomes a concrete decision.
