Open the same spreadsheet on two 16-inch laptops and you may notice colour, contrast and reflections changing. A striking showroom wallpaper, however, says little about spending eight hours with that screen. When choosing between OLED and IPS, start with the content you actually work on and then decide whether the full price difference is worthwhile.
What fills your screen all day?
OLED can make dark scenes and colours look striking in video, photos and design work. Content creators have a good reason to try it. If your day is mostly email, documents and spreadsheets, inspect small text at the brightness you normally use rather than relying on an HDR clip in a shop.
